Bhante Sangharakshita's Funeral

On Saturday 10th November there will be a funeral service at Adhisthana for Bhante. Here in Cambridge Ratnaghosha will lead an event to mark this occasion. If the technology (Adhisthana's broadband) works we will have a live video streaming of the event, and we will also have meditation, puja and mantra chanting and an opportunity to make offerings to the shrine. Above all it is an opportunity to reflect on all that Bhante has given to us and what we want to do with those gifts. Five Indian Public Preceptors are visiting Cambridge

Bhante Sangharakshita is very central to the revival of Buddhism in India and is especially revered by the Dalit community. Through his cantact with Dr. Ambedkar, the great Dalit leader who converted to Buddhism, Bhante became a key figure in the continuation or the conversion movemnt after Ambedkar's death.

This evening five Indian Public Preceptors are here to share their experince of the fruits of the work of Dr. Ambedkar and Bhante.

The death of Urgyen Sangharakshita

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Urgyen Sangharakshita at around 10am on Tuesday 30th October. Sangharakshita founded the Triratna Buddhist Community (then Friends of the Western Buddhist Order) more than 40 years ago and the Cambridge Buddhist Centre is just one of many Buddhist Centre's worldwide that form part of this movement.

The shrine to honour Sangharakshita will be in place up until after his funeral on Saturday 10th November, until which time people can come to to pay their respects during the daytime if they wish.

Tai Chi is as good for you as vigorous exercise

The BBC's 'Trust me, I'm a doctor' set out to discover whether Tai Chi is as good for you as vigorous exercise. They ran a series of tests on present Michael Mosley as well as two test groups, one of which did zumba and the other Tai Chi.

"As might be expected, our Zumba group were all fitter after 12 weeks. Their blood vessels were more elastic and their blood pressure had dropped. Their blood results improved in line with people undertaking an exercise regime.
