Schools

We warmly welcome schools, sixth forms and teacher training colleges to visit the Buddhist Centre.

We offer school visits in our 200 year old pre-Victorian theatre which are both educational and fun. We offer students an introduction to key Buddhist concepts and practices trying to put across the flavour of a modern Buddhist life. A visit to the Buddhist Centre would usually take around 1.5 hours long and a personalised program will be developed with the teacher based on what the students have learnt about Buddhism so far. The program may include a tour of our building and dedicated shrine rooms, activities which illuminate the stories and symbols of the life of the Buddha, activities around core Buddhist concepts such as ethics, question and answer time and a chance to practice meditation.

Our school visits leaders are all experienced Buddhists with practice of communicating with students of different ages and diverse backgrounds and have been DBS checked.

It is also possible to arrange an online school visit, via Zoom or Teams.

We ask for £3.50 per student for the visit but would not want a cost to get in the way of you visiting us.
