Meditation Day: A Word of Kindness

Dates:
Saturday 16th May 2026 - 10.00am to 5.00pm

Open to all who have a regular meditation practice of the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana.

Love, kindness and happiness are words that are incorporated into the very fabric of the Metta Bhavana meditation practice. In fact Metta is often translated as loving kindness.

But how often are these words incorporated into our everyday lives? How often are they used in the world at large?

It might be easy to think that these are just descriptive words for some imagined future rather than words describing what is present for us here and now.

Doing the Metta Bhavana meditation practice allows us to see what is happening for ourselves and others and how we can respond to that, whatever it is, with kindness. If we learn to respond this way on the cushion we can continue to do this at all other times throughout each moment of our daily lives. If we do this we may find that we feel lighter, more loving and happier in ourselves.

This is not an easy practice. Many people avoid doing it, so this day is about helping and inspiring each other to take kindness to another level.

We will do this through meditating together, a short talk, group work and discussion. Giving us the tools to take kindness with us wherever we go.
