Dr Ambedkar Celebration – Film Screening & Reflection

Dates:
Saturday 18th Apr 2026 - 2.00pm to 7.00pm

We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar—a visionary leader, social reformer, and one of the greatest champions of justice and human dignity in modern history.

Dr Ambedkar dedicated his life to challenging inequality, uplifting the oppressed, and creating a society rooted in liberty, equality, and fraternity. In the later part of his life, he turned to the Buddha’s teachings, seeing in the Dhamma a path not only for personal transformation, but for collective liberation.

Today, Dr Ambedkar’s life and vision are increasingly recognised and celebrated around the world. His teachings are inspiring movements for social change, guiding activists, and contributing to a growing Dhamma revolution grounded in wisdom, compassion, and equality.

As Buddhists—and as people committed to compassion in action—his life continues to deeply inspire us.

To mark this special occasion, we will be screening a powerful and moving film on Dr Ambedkar’s life. This is a well-known Indian film, created by a respected director, and presented in English. The film is around three hours long, offering a rich and in-depth portrayal of his journey.

It is a beautiful and accessible way to understand Dr Ambedkar’s life—not just through ideas, but through story, emotion, and lived experience.
