The People’s Emergency Briefing is an eye-opening 50-minute documentary, fronted by Chris Packham, with up-to-date research-based information about the climate and ecological crisis and the impacts we can expect. It covers the key points from the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster last November (https://www.nebriefing.org) in a way that is accessible and really relates to people’s lives. There are nearly 2,000 screenings happening around the country, with facilitated discussions to help people absorb the information and integrate it into their lives.

Telling the truth about the predicament we are in is an expression of the 4th precept. Sangharakshita said we owe ‘a profound apology’ to the creatures and systems of the earth for the harm we have done. The purpose of this national information campaign is to lessen the harm already happening and still to come, thus reflecting the 1st precept in action.

Coming together to watch the film as a community can be a deeply heartwarming experience as we reflect together on our responses, finding strength as a Sangha and as individuals to find our own way forward into whatever action feels appropriate.
