Online Relaxation Foundations Course
Relaxation practice involves exercises that support ease and replenishment by gently 'switching off' stress. The course introduces a range of relaxation traditions through specific exercises and background information. It offers an experiential learning environment where you can find out what type of practice might suit you. We will explore exercises from active relaxation traditions (gentle movement relaxations), Autogenics, breath relaxation, Progressive muscle relaxation, relaxation-oriented meditation, and Yoga Nidra.
Relaxation exercises can be an enjoyable experience in and of themselves. Regular practice can support your concentration and sleep, general wellbeing, inner peace, creativity, meditation, as well as gentle psychological processing to release physical and emotional tensions and anxieties. The course is a foundation for intermediate relaxation training and can also be a lead-in to: meditation, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Tai Chi, somatic movement techniques, and Yoga.
The course will include a weekend workshop on Saturday, 15 May, 10.30 am – 3.00 pm
Requirements and recommendations
Everyone can learn to relax more, especially through finding exercises that meet our individual situation particularly well.
Some of the exercises in this course are unsuitable for people going through psychosis, clinical depression, or personality disorder. The course will take place live via Zoom and includes handouts, recordings of guided exercises, and support for practicing during the week. Although it is possible to phone in to the live sessions, ideally you would connect online with a device that allows both audio and video connection (laptop, PC, tablet, smartphone).
Doing this course from your own home, see if you can make sure that you will not be disturbed during the evening sessions and day workshop so that you can fully benefit from the guided relaxation and shared learning.
Sarvatajnana is a certified relaxation therapist. She has been practicing for 18 years and teaching since 2017.
