Sangha Night: Welcoming Jnanavaca
New President for the Cambridge Buddhist Centre
In the Triratna Community it is customary for Centres and other institutions to have a President. The President is a senior and experienced Order Member form outside the situation who visits occasionally to support the people running the Centre, to meet with others involved and to be an inspiration to the Sangha. They are also somebody to talk to who can bring a different perspective to bear.
The President also has the role of helping those involved locally to think through issues, resolve disputes and keep the spiritual vision alive.
The Cambridge Centre has not had a President for a very long time although we have been looking for someone. Now Jnanavaca has agreed to be our President, which we are very happy about.
Jnanavaca was the Chair of the London Buddhist Centre for many years and is noted for his clear and inspiring Dharma teaching as well as for his joyful friendliness.
