Sub35s: Within Sight - the Marks of Existence (Part 3)
When the Buddha gained enlightenment 2,500 years ago he discovered and entered into a new way of being.
He is also said to have seen 'the way things are'. But what is it that he saw and how can it help us to live richer and more fulfilling lives?
One way the Buddha communicated his insight was through three connected truths about the nature of our human situation:
1. We can change
2. Happiness comes from within
3. We're interconnected
Importantly, the Buddha didn't say that we had to take this on faith alone, but that these marks or truths could be discovered for ourselves. So in this three part series we will explore each of these marks of existence and the implications they might have in the way we decide to live our lives.
The Cambridge Buddhist Centre Sub35 events are an opportunity for people under 35 to explore the Buddha's teachings to find out how we can use them to navigate the modern world and live richer and more fulfilling lives. The evenings will involve a mixture of led meditation, talks and group discussion to explore our themes.
In this third night of our series we have the great pleasure to welcome Prajnaketu, the national Young Buddhists Coordinator, to come and explore this theme of 'We're interconnected'.
We will also have a late night tea bar for those who want to stay and hang out afterwards. You are welcome to bring vegan biscuits or cake to share.
Anyone aged 16 or 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Newcomers welcome!
We run the nights for free, with any donations very welcome.
