What is Iyengar Yoga?

Iyengar yoga is a traditional form of yoga with focus on mobility, balance, strength, suppleness, alignment and fun. If you’re not flexible, don’t worry, the use of props and experienced teaching techniques provide options for adapting your practice.

We work progressively to establish sound yoga basics and then, over time, gradually move on to more challenging poses.

As we have been bringing intelligence to all the cells of your body through asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathwork), each class will end with a restorative relaxation so you may sustain the effects of practicing yoga after class and leave feeling refreshed and vibrantly calm.

Yoga is for everyone and it is an investment in self-care. “Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and to endure what cannot be cured” B. K. S. Iyengar (1918 - 2014). He systematised over 200 classical asanas and many pranayama techniques and introduced the use of props such as blocks, bricks, belts and blankets in order that students of any level can work safely and effectively within the practice.

Please note: this course is not suitable for under 18 year olds.

What should I bring?

Our bodywork studio is fully equipped. Do wear comfortable clothing suitable for the gym and be prepared to practice barefoot.

Advanced payment required to book for the six week course at £72 (equivalent to £12 per class).
